What is Chiropractic?

Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

Now over one hundred years old, Chiropractic, as developed by the father-son team of the Drs. Palmer, has stayed true to its original premise. “The Power that made the body heals the body.” Where Western medicine has become almost entirely dependent on altering the biochemical interactions of the body through pharmaceuticals (when was the last time an MD offered you something other than a drug prescription for your condition?), Chiropractic recognizes our brain (the central nervous system) as the all-important regulator of our well-being.

It is easy to make the mistake of thinking of chiropractors as back doctors. This is because we adjust the bones of the spine. Our purpose is to facilitate normal nerve transmission from the brain to every cell in the body and back.

Dr. B.J. Palmer chose to call our body’s ability to heal itself through unfettered nerve transmission as its ‘innate’ ability. We chiropractors are the world’s largest group of drugless healers. Come discover how we can assist your body to utilize its ‘innate’ ability to create your well-being.
