Hopes & Dreams

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

“Some men see things as they are, and ask why.
I dream of things that never were, and ask why not.”
-Robert Kennedy

Why on earth would anyone ever consider signing up for a course online that goes for 26 weeks? and what does anyone really mean by the term ‘self-development?’

This course is labeled The Master Keys Master Mind Alliance. That’s a pretty grand title that seems to issue quite a challenge to fulfill its premise. I am here to say that it fulfills the premise in spades.

I am a graduate of the 2016-17 program and I highly recommend it.
Here is how I benefited from my participation: I gained increased appreciation of my innate strengths and wisdom. The key to my success was to do the work required. Period.

Participation is mandatory. Not everyone who begins this course finishes it the first time through but the benefits for those who see it through to the finish include a personal sense of accomplishment that radiates into every area of your life.

The Master Keys Master Mind Alliance, because of its length alone, provide for the development and the maturation of personal strengths not found in other self-development courses. If you apply yourself in this course, you will reveal to yourself aspects of yourself that you may have forsaken in the rush of life: hopes and dreams assigned to a forgotten memory of what could have been.

This is a great opportunity for you to challenge your status quo; to refresh the vitality of the humdrum; to confront the grip of un-examined habits that shape your days and, therefore, create anew, for yourself, a self-determined life.

Weeks 23 & 24 – Creation

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

This course, Master Key Master Mind Alliance is the brainchild of Mark Januszewki.

In a nutshell, that description captures its essence. This experience for some three hundred of us who stayed with it has been available to us because Mark J dared to think about it. He dared to challenge himself, to take his Hero’s Journey to create the MKMMA for us. He thought about it “Clear, decisive, calm, deliberate, sustained thought with a definite end in view.” He created his Definite Major Purpose and he stuck to his guns. If we are known by our conduct, then we may know Mark & Davene and their supporting cast by that which they have provided us.

Why is it important for us to notice this action? Because they demonstrate to us that which they teach. This course is about manifestation and creation. We have been trained in the fundamentals, we have been drilled in the basics until our thought processes have become habitual.

It seems to me that we need to issue ourselves a warning. These have been hard-won habits of creationism and, like any habit, they can be lost. We need to respect the work we have done to achieve this awareness and honor ourselves by setting our shoulders to the wheel with even greater intention as we enter a less tutored phase of our learning.

Mark and Davene have demonstrated selfless service through the ‘pay it forward’ concept of their course. We owe it to ourselves to mimic that selfless service first to ourselves and second to others by sharing with them the possibilities of self-realization through this course.

So, back to that term ‘brainchild.’ What a great way to describe the genesis of a project. If we recall how long it took some if us to determine our Definite Major Purpose, we can appreciate how this term applies itself. It has been said that all great and enduring truths are simple and self-evident. Focusing in multiple ways with consistent persistence on that which we have defined as our goal and sustaining that focus until we manifest it is certainly simple and self-evident.

Haanel’s Master Keys re-frame the enduring truths of all great thinkers and enable us to anchor them into our lives, along with a healthy dose of Mark J’s correlating awareness. Our final lesson or key lays bare the self-revealing truth of unity of consciousness, that by whatever name, separation is illusory and we are all one in Spirit. That we are in truth co-creators with Spirit of our lives.

Like The Three Musketeers always say: “One for All and All for One!”

Week 22A – Silence

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

This will be a short post to share the utter delight and dreadful boredom I experienced in 2 days of self-imposed silence.

Self-imposed because, really, how could anyone else impose silence on another? But suggested in my Master Key class as a way to take a deep-dive into my awareness of self.

This required me to eschew all activities other than selected readings chosen for their uplifting nature. That meant no email, in fact no computer at all. Certainly no television. Of course no conversation.

I did communicate with my wife maybe three times by writing; the rest of the time we were separate. I even prepared my meals solo (after all, I wasn’t much of a dinner companion).

I was silent from Wednesday at bedtime (can you really count sleep as silent time?) to Saturday upon awakening. Thursday the weather was good enough for a short hike in the woods. Our new house is not far from the Appalachian Trail so I checked it out for the first time.

So that’s how I did it. Now, what was it like?

The HU-Man Experience

I have meditated from half an hour to an hour every day for over forty years. Oftentimes I am frustrated by not having the time and freedom to spend more time inside so I saw this and experienced it as a vacation! Absolutely cool. Total freedom to experience my inner consciousness. In fact, my spiritual teacher, John-Roger, named our organization the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness. Who knew that The Master Keys class would be guiding us along a parallel path?

I was able to experience deep, uninterrupted stretches of time exploring the inner reaches of my awareness, experiencing timelessness,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,formlessness,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,carried aloft on soft cotton. Only after the monkey mind settled down and tired itself out. and certainly not all the time. When I would come out to handle this level and before I would remember the possibility of what awaited me on my return, I experienced several times bone-numbing boredom.

Try it some time. If you want to consciously focus your mind spiritually (really, it’s all spiritual) check out the HU chant with instructions at

Years ago I gave up recreational drugs when told they would eventually deprive me of my innate ability to have the equivalent and even greater experiences without outer stimulation.

Today I am glad I took the challenge.

Week – 22; And It Came To Pass…

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

We’ve all seen the picture of the Old Woman who also appears to be a Young Beauty depending upon how you happen to focus on the image.

It’s a great metaphor for understanding consciousness and awareness. She does not change. Her image is static. There is no Wizard behind the curtain manipulating our reality.

And yet depending upon how I focus, my experience of her shifts one hundred and eighty degrees. So what’s this universal experience telling us? Who’s in charge here?

The mantra of the human potential movement of the nineteen-eighties was something like this: “What if you were responsible for creating everything you have in your life? Your family, your friends, your job or career, your dreams and your disasters?”

Well, I have been wrestling with that one since then. I’ve always accepted the possibility. I’ve wanted to believe it true. I’ve even argued for its primacy. I have only had glimpses of its truth from time to time.

Kind of like that moment when The Hag turns into The Damsel. And then back onto The Hag.

This is week Twenty-Two. This has been a consistent daily ritual of awareness for me. I am seriously beginning to see The Damsel more consistently and I am holding (creating) the image for longer periods.

If it is so that we are each an aspect of the divine, of absolute reality, of it of itself, then our devotion to that awareness and the responsibility that comes with it, may be our primary purpose.

For me, in this mundane world of sunrises and sunsets, that looks like being of service to myself and others from moment to moment with as much joy and clarity as an open and loving heart can deliver.

Week 21 – A Second Wind

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

Some weeks I feel it and some weeks I don’t.

Seems like the key is to continue regardless of how I feel. “Are your feelings always right?” someone once asked me and I had to admit that how I feel is not always the best barometer for how I am.

So if I can’t trust my feelings, where does that leave me? Guess I better get some altitude, some perspective on what’s going on.

Like maybe check in with my Personal Pivotal Needs and see how they’re doing. Remind myself of the value of the process and measure the amount of progress.

Trust the results.

Expand the vision.

I had a high school track coach who would make us run harder when we began to flag because it would always give us a second wind to keep going.

Patience , persistence, valor and courage.

After all, it’s my life.

Week 20-“In the moment of contraction, expand.”

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

I’ve been having my worst week of the course by far. It’s because I have come up against the work required to fulfill one of my Personal Pivotal Needs and I have some baggage that is showing up to hold me back.

Cold-calling businesses. I have done this kind of thing in so many different business circumstances in the past, I assumed it would be no big thing this time. But there’s been a shift and I have been experiencing mortal fear whenever I prepare to enter businesses. Worthiness issues.

By reading of others’ experiences with Power Poses this week I realize this may be the key to expanding my aura before I initiate contact. This is like a revelation from the gods. I give my thanks. My inner turmoil is relaxing.

My other great assistance this week has been reading many of the blogs of our classmates and realizing how we truly are in this progression together. I received great sustenance for my next steps by reading of others’ experiences.

Week 19 – The Beat Goes On

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

“…drums keep pounding rhythm to the brave.” I am beginning to feel a quality of inevitability about my Definite Major Purpose. I’m getting moments of crystal clear vision when I know it’s coming forward. (Curious image, that, of it coming to me.)

At the same time I can feel myself flagging. Mark spoke about this several weeks ago; about keeping our guard up against complacency, of going through the steps because I’m committed to them which is different than embracing them with enthoosiasm!

I do feel like we are this small army banded together on our collective hero’s journey, marching week by week towards our destiny, led by our Guides. I think of them as Scouts who have been this way before. They have gone ahead to make sure the way is clear for us. And at the front of this column of intrepid travelers are our Leaders cheering us forward, unwilling to take the steps for us but willing us to find our individual ways, knowing and demonstrating with supreme conviction the rectitude of the process.

We hear the Herald’s call to action.

Week 18 – Interest – Attention – Intention

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

In Haanel’s world, Universal Mind is the whole ball of wax. All of the qualities that different spiritual disciplines assign to higher powers are rolled into Universal Mind. In my world, my father used to caution me as a brash and judgmental 15-year-old ready who wanted to throw my teachers and coaches under the bus by warning me:

“Andy-boy, suspend your judgement because the facts are never all in.”

My spiritual teacher, John-Roger, would say something similar: whenever you think you’ve got it made, that your self-realization experiences the highest planes, say to yourself etc., meaning there is always more. He characterized etc as ‘eternally travelling consciousness.’

But I digress. These master key lessons of Mr. Haanel’s I find to be invaluable. He has taken the lessons of the ages and ordered them for our Western ways so that we may grasp them and use them. Coupled with Mark J’s wonderful contemporary research supporting the lessons, we have a regimen for continual personal growth.

Every lesson is identical but packaged in different presentations. This week we are reminded that we are all part of the whole and that our individual expressions are the result of that which we attract to us by way of our interests.

Interest produces attention, the mark of genius. Attention colored by desire i.e. enthusiasm (Law of Dual Thought – dang, I think I’m getting the hang of this stuff).

I really like this idea that “we are at all times a complete entity.” To grow we must accrue to ourselves and the only way to do that for a complete entity is to give away something to allow for the reciprocal action of receiving.

That’s why “the ability to produce is found to be the real source of wealth of the individual. It is for this reason that he who has his heart in his work is certain to meet with unbounded success. He will give and continually give; the more he gives, the more he will receive.” eg.Mark Januszewski, MKMMA

This cat is walking the talk!

Week 17A – Think About It

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

This week we were instructed to choose previous lessons we wished to revisit. Here are some of Charles F. Haanel’s thoughts I picked out from “The Master Key System.”

Harmony in the world within means the ability to control our thoughts, and to determine for ourselves how any experience is to affect us. 1-10.

The world without reflects the circumstances and the conditions of the consciousness within. 1-12.

The world within is the cause, the world without the effect; to change the effect you must change the cause. 1-36.

It has been found that by plainly stating to the subconscious mind certain things to be accomplished, forces are set in operation that lead to the desired result. 2-20.

If we demand much, we shall receive the greater portion. The world is harsh only as we fail to assert ourselves. 3-17.

The result will be in exact proportion to the effort expended. … for the purpose of strengthening the will and realizing your power to accomplish: “I can be what I will to be.” 4-9.

Remember that the world within is controlled by the ‘I’ and that this ‘I’ is a part or one with the Infinite ‘I’ which is the Universal Energy or Spirit, usually called God. 4-15.

The Infinite is not bankrupt and we who are the representatives of Infinite power should not be bankrupts either, and if we wish to be of service to others we must have power and more power, but to get it we must give it; we must be of service. 4-20.

This is important work, and the higher, loftier, grander and more noble ideals which you can conceive, the more important the work will become. 4-24.

The Law of Attraction is bringing to us …the things we have created by our thought processes, whether consciously or unconsciously. 5-8.

We are each of us but the channel through which the Omnipotent power is being differentiated into form. Unless we give, the channel is obstructed and we can receive no more. The more we give, the more we get. 5-25.

Power is contingent upon a proper use of the power already in our possession …spiritual power. Take away the spirit and what is left? Nothing. 5-26.

Attention or concentration is probably; the most important essential in the development of mind culture…and is the highest personal accomplishment which can be acquired. 6-19.

Thought is the process by which we may absorb the Spirit of Power and hold the result in our inner consciousness until it becomes a part of our ordinary consciousness. 6-33.

Desire is largely subconscious. 17-8.

The subconscious mind may be aroused …by concentration. 17-9.

All mental discovery and attainment are the result of desire plus concentration. 17-15.

Concentration simply implies that consciousness can be focalised to the point where it becomes identified with the object of its attention. 17-21.

Always concentrate on the ideal as an already existing fact. 17-32

Think about it.

Week 17 – Founder? Foundering?

MKMMA | 0 comments | by Dr. Andrew Millar

foundered; foundering

intransitive verb – to become disabled, to go lame

found·er     noun

a person who creates or establishes something

Am I founding or foundering? Unusual language, this English.

Unusual moment in time for me in this course, although, since I have never been at Lesson 17 of Haanel’s The Master Keys, perhaps it is premature for me to claim my experience as unusual.

I get glimpses of the ‘me’ of my definite major purpose at times. Sort of like a seafarer in a small boat in high seas: when he crests the swell he can see afar his goal and then the ocean currents pull him into the trough, surrounded on all sides by walls of water.

Short of Mark showing up in flowing robes and staff to part the waters, I guess it’s down to me and my persistence to continue to progress:

Definite Major Purpose

Plan of Action

Positive Mental Attitude

Master Mind Alliance

On second thought, Mark did give me the keys. Now all I have to do is lubricate the lock with the sweat of my daily discipline enlivened with my enthusiasm and gratitude.

I am choosing to be the founder of my definite major purpose.
